This will be a multipart post for a few reasons.
First is we are all to darn busy to read a long ass blog post and second because I love the dramatic pauses. Kinda lends to the nail biting…”what’s next”.
Being productive is not a science or a book…and it’s not a weekend course. It’s focus and discipline. It’s knowing how to separate the important items from the shiny objects and crushing it daily. And after over a decade of entrepreneurship in a variety of spaces, I think I have it narrowed down to five (or 6) easy steps.
While they are all super important, I will list them in a series of posts in order of importance.
The first is D and D. No, not dungeons and dragons, but rather…
1. Define and delegate.
You are the caption of your ship, so defining what are the most important tasks and delegating the rest is key. It’s a skill. It can be learned and is so easy to get off track. I like to think of it as the business drivers. What are the biggest and most important things that you should be doing to move your business forward. These are things that YOU, the owner/CEO should have on your plate. The top 5-10% of things. Once they are defined…stick to the plan!
Delegate the rest.
The biggest hurdle you’ll likely face? Letting go. Giving some control to others so that you can focus on that top 10%.
When you can accomplish this and know things are getting done, then you and your business have evolved.
Define and Delegate.
Part 2 coming soon…
